In 2010 a cry for help came through from the village of Uppada in Andhra Pradesh India.

A cyclone had left 37 widows homeless and destitute.

Gay Canham felt challenged to do something about this desperate situation and quickly established a feeding program. This continued for 2 years.

in 2012 Gay, and a friend Tara Harrison went over to India to see what could be done on a more permanent basis.

We wanted to give these widows/abandoned women an opportunity – not charity to break the poverty cycle in their lives

and so The widows’ Cause was birthed.

Soon the widows’ Cause (based in Melbourne, Australia) became a REGISTERED CHARITY.

In June of 2015 TWC entered into partnership with GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP.

This partnership with Global ensures legal and financial accountability, access to a greater contact base and TAX DEDUCTIBILITY on all donations over $2.

The widows cause team is committed and has an ongoing passion to radically impact the lives of widows/abandoned women in desperate need.
